SENIOR CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR: Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Job Description: CDM is currently looking for a Senior Construction Inspector for its project in Stockton, CA.

With minimal supervision, performs a wide range of inspection tasks, including assessing adherence to quality control procedures for installation of underground concrete lined steel pipe, water treatment plant construction and large storage tank construction. Inspects various facets of work on the construction site and performs continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications.

Works as directed by the Project Quality Control Manager. Performs quality control inspection activities on assigned project and/or functional areas to ensure that products or services provided are in accordance with customer and CDM requirements. Regularly interacts with other employees, representatives from a variety of functional groups, and project management, suppliers, subcontractors and client on project. The position requires the ability to communicate clearly and interface effectively with a diverse group of professionals.

The Senior Inspector will serve in the capacity of the Lead Inspector, planning inspections, developing inspection plans, assigning duties, supervising activities and providing leadership to other laboratory quality control technicians, project inspectors and third party Quality Control Inspectors assigned to the project.

The Senior Inspector will be expected to perform the following duties:

-Document nonconforming conditions and participate in determining appropriate acceptable resolution.

-Monitor civil and structural tests, such as soil compaction, moisture content, aggregation, graduation, concrete slump, air entrainment, concrete compression, lines and grades surveys, bolt torques, and concrete coring.

-Monitor destructive and nondestructive tests on metals and other materials through magnaflex, dye-penetrant, radiographic, tension and compression, paint thickness, and resistivity.

-Monitor micro-tunneling operations by contractors

Inspect installation underground piping to ensure alignment, tightness, bedding, and grade.

-Inspects and monitors piling installation to ensure location and bearing.

-Checks location of reinforcing steel before placement of concrete.

-Validates water treatment plant piping systems, including P&ID checks and hydraulic or other pressure tests.

-Inspects electrical installations to ensure proper grounding, circuit integrity, and adherence to statutory and customer regulations.

-Performs continuing inspection of painting and insulation to ensure thickness and coverage continuity.

-Provides general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship

-Must read and interpret Contract and construction Drawings and Specifications for verification of Compliance by Subcontractors.

-Verifies equipment alignment and balancing operations.

-Perform additional duties as assigned.

Inspection activities will include multi-disciplines and it is anticipated that individuals will be very knowledgeable with inspection activities in several of the following areas (or subjects): Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Instrumentation and Controls, Civil, Structural, Architectural, HVAC, Soils, Concrete, Steel, Welding, Non-Destructive Examination, Receiving, and Special Processes, Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical construction and installation.

Job Requirements: A successful CDM candidate will have: A Bachelor's degree in construction management or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 6 years related experience in the construction industry.

Thorough knowledge and experience in: sewer pipe installation, raw water pipe installation, water treatment plant construction or modernization.

Candidate must have:

-ACI level I certification for concrete Inspector or have current equivalent state certification

-General Inspector's certification from State Agency, ICBO or NICET

-Experience verifying environmental construction permit compliance or erosion control compliance

-Capability of reading and understanding construction engineering drawings and specifications for the purposes of inspecting compliance of the work
