Code: EMI-SD-148-SKS Division/Department: EMI Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Education: Bachelor's Degree Category: Engineering, Consulting Services, Energy/Utilities, Environmental Services Job Description: We are currently seeking a Senior Level Energy Auditor/Project Manager for our San Diego, CA office. The auditing team conducts comprehensive energy audits in order to recommend significant proposed energy savings for our clients. The ultimate goal of the audits is to provide investment grade reports with recommendations concentrating on HVAC, lighting and controls to reduce energy, water, and demand and maintenance savings. The candidate will identify energy conservation opportunities and help facilitate the implementation of projects, initiatives, and programs that reduce energy consumption and demand, save money, and help the environment. The candidate will augment existing customer capabilities, work with both the customer and Tetra Tech in a team framework, and be an on-site action agent to facilitate energy and cost savings. The selected candidate will lead our auditing team to provide comprehensive auditing services that identify and develop facility/energy improvement measures and opportunities. Primary duties will focus on managing our auditing team, coordinating project elements including client communication, project budgets, and team organization as well as grouping and expanding auditing work. The following tasks will be required as needed for managing specific projects: preparing technical content for RFP's related to energy project procurement; conveying knowledge of existing energy management/auditing technology and market conditions, preparing proposals, providing timely client communication, executing project scope items, anticipating project issues and developing appropriate resolutions; and monitoring project cost and schedule. Job Requirements: The successful candidate must have a sound engineering background and the ability to communicate technical concepts accurately in language appropriate for the client's background. Since evaluating sites for potential energy management development and client meetings are integral to this position, the ability to travel is expected. Technical curiosity and the demonstrated ability to provide analysis and recommendations supported by sound business economics are required. 6-10 plus years of experience in energy management/engineering; strong HVAC background; experience with auditing, project development, life-cycle cost analysis, commissioning, and building/system optimization is a plus. Previous experience working at Federal / DOD facilities is a plus. Certified Energy Manager designation is preferred. Requires knowledge of utility information systems, energy management technologies and advanced energy metering; excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills; proficient knowledge of computer spreadsheets; especially Excel, and other database applications. The ability to write clear and accurate reports is essential. B.S. in engineering (mechanical or electrical) and at least 8+ years of experience in the energy management/auditing industry is required. Consulting experience is considered a plus.
