Our Houston, TX office is searching for a full-time Geologist whose work assignments will include a broad range of technical tasks associated with environmental evaluations of commercial/industrial and government owned facilities and operations. The successful candidate will work in the field on project sites. The responsibilities of the Geologist will include assisting with calculations and report preparation under the direction of experienced senior personnel. Examples of assigned tasks may include collecting samples, groundwater and soil, monitoring well drilling and abandonment, collecting information, arranging for laboratory analysis and report writing. The successful candidate will have significant involvement as a team member on field tasks including sampling, management of IDW, supervision of subcontractors, health and safety oversight of subcontractors, etc. In addition, the candidate will assist in the preparation of subcontract documents, procurement paper work of subcontractors, work plans and reports under direction of senior engineers and scientists. Additional responsibilities include assisting in data evaluation and reporting for UST, CERCLA, and RCRA sites. The physical demands of field activities, which comprise a significant portion of the job responsibilities, include lifting, maneuvering, positioning, and operating sampling/testing equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and 50 P.D.S. pounds. Job Requirements: We require a Bachelors Degree in Geology and a minimum of one to three years experience. A 40-hour OSHA 1910.120 Hazardous Waste Training Certificate is desirable. The successful candidate will be motivated to work in the environmental/engineering consulting business. Extensive travel is required. Candidate must have the ability to identify and to use common tools such as a hammer, wrench, screwdriver, shovel, drill, saw, etc. Tetra Tech is an equal opportunity employer.
