The Fairfax, VA office has an immediate opening for a motivated engineer with 2 to 5 years directly relevant experience to in stormwater planning, assessment, design, and modeling. The selected individual will work closely with leaders in model development and application on projects throughout North America for clients in the public sector. Key requirements of the position include a fundamental understanding of hydrological, hydraulic, and water quality processes at site- and watershed-scales, stormwater planning and design, and BMP design and watershed modeling. Experience creating new or improving existing decision support tools for urban stormwater management and planning is a plus. This position supports a variety of water resources projects within Tetra Tech and requires a professional with the demonstrated ability to work well with others as a member of the team. Knowledge and skills should include: á Experience in stormwater planning, modeling, analysis, and design á Experience conducting hydraulic and/or hydrologic and water quality modeling studies using public domain tools (particularly SWMM, HEC, and HSPF) á Experience in the use of computer software, including MS Access and Excel, for data analysis á Experience using GIS; GIS application development a plus; ArcGIS experience preferred á Experience developing or updating computer code in multiple languages, such as VB, C++, and Fortran á An ability to solve problems related to hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality á An understanding of local, state, and federal water programs, regulations Experience Requirements: The successful candidate will have a background and degree in water resources or environmental engineering. Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in a related science or engineering field (advanced degree preferred) and 2 to 5 years relevant work experience. Candidates with experience in stormwater management will be given high priority. Proficiency with standard word processing, spreadsheet, database, and GIS software; and demonstrated oral and written communication and teamwork skills are necessary.
